Cleaning and Care

Although stone is a versatile and tough material, it may need cleaning now and then to give it the best appearance.

Marble & Granite

Marble and granites that are distributed or installed by Number One Marble and Granite will be sealed by us on before pickup or on location. These sealers however do not last as long as the stone themselves and may have to be reapplied every couple or years. Other than that, cleaning with diluted detergent such as morning fresh is sufficient for most spills and stains.

Reconstituted Stone

Reconstituted stone (man made) generally has a higher tolerance then that of marble and granite. This however does not mean that spills can be left overnight, the earlier the spill is removed, the easier it will be, and with better results. For more severe stains, Jiff can be used which should remove just about any stain. Bleach is not recommended as it may discolour the face of the material. For other stains that seem impossible to get out, contact us and we’ll guide you through the cleaning process.

Excessive Heat

Granite is considered heatproof within the confines of the kitchen. Marble and reconstituted stone although heat resistance, should not be in direct contact with extreme temperatures otherwise staining may occur.
